Society, the media and especially potential employees are nowadays demanding a great deal of companies. Sustainable engagement for environmental, economic and social topics as well as dealing with employees responsibly is therefore crucial for the success of a company and its attractiveness as employer.
A company is one step ahead in the competition for junior and skilled staff if it is able to exhibit acts of sustainability and grants its employees the opportunity to plan their lives according to their preferences, e.g. via family-friendly working hours. This can be a decisive advantage in times in which employees can chose where to work.
Accordingly, a recent survey of the Institut für Mittelstandsforschung shows that companies actively engaged in CSR make use of their CSR activities for human resource management. However, an adequate communications strategy is crucial to make this a success.
