“Human firewall“ and “security starts in the head” are two central buzz words for the security award 2013 (“Sicherheitspreis 2013”), presented by the Sicherheitsforum Baden-Wuerttemberg. The first prize honours the information security concept of the machine factory Gustav Eirich, whose activities in know-how protection take a clear focus on the employees of the company. The concept is built on the fact that in most cases of know-how loss and information theft, perpetrators come from within a company – no matter if offences were committed deliberately or unintended.
The second prize was awarded to SAP AG and COMback GmbH. SAP presented a concept playing on the theme of a “human firewall”, emphasizing that human failure is just as dangerous as technological leaks. COMback implemented the requirements of ISO 27001 comprehensively. “Just as in the last years, we had very innovative projects against industrial spying to choose from”, mentioned State Secretary Ingo Rust during the prize ceremony.
